Join the Team at Kinghorn Lifeboat Station
Have you ever thought about volunteering at your local lifeboat station? Kinghorn RNLI is looking for new volunteers for operational roles, including tractor drivers and boat crew.
The station will be holding information events over the coming weeks where you can speak to existing volunteers and find out more.
The station is particularly keen to strengthen the shore crew team and is looking for new volunteers to drive the launching tractor. You do not need any existing knowledge or experience. The RNLI will provide all necessary training for each role; tractor drivers will require a full UK driving licence.
Lifeboat Operations Manager, Joanne Wibberley, said, ‘Kinghorn is one of the busiest stations in Scotland, covering much of the Fife and Edinburgh coastline, and we are looking for more operational volunteers who live in Kinghorn to join the team.
‘We need to bolster our team of tractor drivers. This is an essential role as without tractor drivers the boat cannot get afloat for training and callouts.
‘No experience is needed as there is a comprehensive training programme offered – less than 10% of RNLI volunteers have a professional maritime background - and this often stands you in good stead for employment and other parts of your life.
‘You need to be physically fit and enjoy a challenge!
‘We have information events arranged where people can come along and find more about volunteering from existing personnel. The next event will be on Monday 16th April between 7.30pm and 9.00pm. Alternatively, the team meets on a Monday evening for training and would be delighted to meet you.
‘This is a great opportunity to join a world-leading organisation, learn new skills, and enjoy great team spirt!’
