This neighborhood walking tour is part of Jane's Walk at Municipal Art Society (https://janeswalk.org/about/). Jane's Walks are free, locally organized walking tours, in which people get together to explore, talk about, and celebrate their neighborhoods. Where more traditional tours are a bit like walking lectures, a Jane's Walk is more of a walking conversation.
Who has a masterful understanding of Kingsbridge community's past and present history? A neighborhood librarian of course! Learn from these amazing experts who live and breathe community as they take you for a walk beyond their local library walls.
The New York Public Library staff will lead you on an exploration of Kingsbridge Library's rich and changing history/ We'll begin at the Kingsbridge Library and then we'll walk the blocks around the Library building. You'll be surprised when we show you some neighborhood photographs from generations past that we've found in the Library's collections. And, of course, we'll share some anecdotes and observations along the way, too.
