Join us as we explore the historical evolution of filmmaking—from old school movie productions using actual film, to our current digital “point and shoot” age.
Going to the cinema used to be an exciting way to spend an evening, and we were more than happy to watch a single episode of a TV series a week. All that changed with the arrival of on-demand video platforms such as Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Video. Not only did that enable us to stream movies and TV programmes 24/7, with better access to quality independent productions, but Netflix also ushered in the age of binge-watching, effectively feeding our insatiable appetites for video content.
Meanwhile, Instagram stories have created a whole new format of short videos through which users share animated snippets of their day, hold interactive polls, promote content, products and services, and more.
The filmmaking landscape has transformed drastically, and will continue to do so in light of immersive technologies such as VR and AR paving the way for the next cultural shift. What does that mean for our next generation of filmmakers, and how do we make the most of these technological innovations? Add your voice to the mix by joining our talk and discussion.
