This is a real coup for the Club to get these 3 fantastic musicians together.
Charlie McKerron is one of Scotland’s finest fiddle players, he won the Daily Record Golden Fiddle Award. He first joined Capercaillie in 1985 and has toured extensively throughout the world with the band.
Charlie can also been seen performing with Marc Clements, Finlay MacDonald Band, Maggie MacInnes and has been involved in projects with Kevin MacKenzie and Aidan O’Rourke.
Ross Ainslie hails from Bridge of Earn in Perthshire. He began playing chanter at the age of 8 and like Ali Hutton studied under the watchful eye of the late great Gordon Duncan and was a member of the Vale of Atholl pipe band.
Ross also plays with Salsa Celtica, Dougie Maclean’s band, India Alba, Tunebook, Charlie Mckerron’s trio and in a duo with Irish piper Jarlath Henderson.
He released his début solo album “Wide Open” in 2013 which was voted 9th out of 50 in the Sunday Herald “The Scottish albums of 2013”. He was nominated for “musician of the year” at the Radio 2 folk awards 2013 and also for “Best Instrumentalist” at the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2010 and 2012.
Marc Clement has been working as a professional musician for nearly 30 years.
Marc played with Bruce McGregor for many years and this also led to many other ventures with add hoc line ups including the likes of Duncan Chisholm. Iain Macfaralane and Gabe McVarish
to name but a few.
Through this time he continued to work as a solo artist and performed regularly as a support act for Wolfstone.
Around 1998 he was asked to be involved in a project showcasing the various fiddle styles from around Scotland. This project went on to become Blazin Fiddles ,which Marc was a member
of until April 2008.
After playing some shows with Charlie MacKerron, he was asked to join Session A9 in 2005 and is still a member to this day. Session A9 has toured extensively around the world and has won many awards! Marc also works with individual members of the band including Charlie MacKerron and Adam Sutherland.
He was also selected to appear on Pasted Beyond Recognition , a charity album of Del Amitri songs and appears alongside the likes of Ricky Ross and Blue Rose Code.
