Due to demand, we have scheduled a second screening of the Pruitt Igoe Myth. Doors will open at 1:30 pm.

The Pruitt-Igoe Myth depicts the construction, decline, and eventual demolition of the Pruitt-Igoe housing projects in St. Louis discussed in “Mapping Decline: St. Louis and the Fate of the American City.” In chronicling the social and economic issues which led to the project’s failure, the film sheds a light on the problems of racial discrimination and urban decline in St. Louis. Brian Woodman, the head curator of the Washington University Film and Media Archive and a producer on the film, will provide an introduction and Q&A. The short documentary film, More Than One Thing, excerpts of which are featured in The Pruitt-Igoe Myth, will be screened alongside of it.
