African Fintech in the Digital era:
With 300 start-ups currently in Africa, of which 60 percent is Fintech based, we attest to the reports; Fintech is booming in Africa! What started with mobile money (M-pesa) in 2007 to serve the unbanked, is now a growing industry which propels Africa into the digital era, while tackling social and economic challenges in its wake and leaving a tremendous impression to spectators across the globe.
In this workshop we will focus on this African Fintech revolution in the making. We will explore the current developments and the opportunities that Fintech enables for investors, policymakers, (social) entrepreneurs and yourself including. Hereinafter Florian Manderscheid and Markos Lemma of Ethiopia’s first innovation Hub “IceAddis” will elaborate in realtime interview on their experiences in the Fintech industry and start-ups in the region. Afterward Karl Carter, the founder of Snake Nation will share his story with us about his creative Fintech company and the journey as an entrepreneur enabling business in Africa.
