Kaleigh Peery is an actress, advocate, and artist that once hung her beautiful work on the walls of Kool Beanz Cafe who sadly had to take her work down after showcasing for a mere seven days to make way for the artist who was scheduled to showcase their work. Well, we here at Kool Beanz are happy to announce that she's back! Yes, back with her beautiful talent that we're both grateful and proud to showcase.
Her collection this time is a tribute and celebration of life to her daughter Esmerlda Phoenix Peery who sadly left both her and all of us far too early. Esmerlda was born on April 1 2017 and her passing was on May 4 2017. Esmerlda is a name made famous by the novel "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", which Disney had envisioned in 1996 where she was a heroine who stood up to the evil of oppression in its many forms while finding love and making a friend of the deformed hero who would save her life on more than one occasion. Esmerlda was a gypsy, which is Kaleigh's nickname. Kaleigh is passionate about her work, artwork, education, and is a volunteer with the Saint Louis branch of NAMI.
NAMI St. Louis’ mission is to improve the quality of life of persons with severe and persistent mental illness and their families, and promote and provide community support, education, advocacy, and understanding.
This beautiful collection will showcase the color green, which is both the color of the month of Mays birthstone and the color that represents mental awareness. And though her show is in April, the meaning and devotion to her cause and memory of her daughter stands out and shines through in her work which as stated will showcase the color green and have a hidden tribute to Esmerlda. Kaleigh's art expresses the chaos, pain, and hope that forever swirls like a maelstrom in her heart. But it also brings her closer both to Esmerlda and to her son Sun Peery who was also taken from her when she was nineteen.
So come to Kool Beanz cafe on Friday night April 6th at 7:00 p.m. and see the passion, bravery, and dedication of this phenomenal artist. Her show runs from April 6th to May 9th.
