ARTE JOVEN / YOUNG ART 2018 celebrates the talents or our youth and achievements of La Casita's programs this year in visual & language arts, music and dance.

This event culminates the work of year-round programming offered in partnership between La Casita, the Point of Contact Gallery, the Spanish Action League, the Manos pre-school program at the Seymour Dual Language Academy (Partners in Learning), and the SU graduate program, Cultural Foundations of Education.

This event marks the release of a new bilingual children’s book, written and illustrated by the young participants in La Casita's Reading Circles. The new edition, titled Gabi In Her Little World, is the third children’s book released by La Casita.

La Casita’s Danza Troupe will perform at the reception, with an interpretation of traditional Puerto Rican Bomba.

Music performances will include our violin students, as well as the children in this year's new program, La Orquesta, and the sounds of musical instruments designed and built by the children of La Orquesta, utilizing repurposed and recicled materials.

We are extremely proud of our youth’s accomplishments and deeply grateful for the steadfast commitment of our partners on and off the Syracuse University campus: the College of Arts & Sciences and our partner organizations in the Syracuse community. This year's remarkable achievements are unquestionable as we gain new knowledge and understanding about each other and how we connect through art.

Support for this program comes from Molina Healthcare, Habitat for Humanity, Mercy-Works, AXA and the Latino-Latin American Studies Program at Syracuse University.

Refreshments will be served.
Admission is free and open to the public.
