Authors Gavin Schmitt and Dr. Kerry Trask will be in Manitowoc!
Gavin will be signing his latest book, "Fox Cities Murder and Mayhem", at Ladeda Books and Beans. (He will have some of his previous works on hand, too.)
Although the book focuses on the Fox Cities (Appleton), it has a wide appeal for those who like historical true crime tales. One such tale is that of murderer Wenzel Kabat, a Manitowoc native!
Gavin is the go-to expert on organized crime in Wisconsin, and has spent decades researching heinous murders and law enforcement in the state.
Professor Trask’s latest book is titled "Look for Me in Rainbows". It deals with the murder 15 year-old Barbara, the daughter of Trask’s Aunt Erma. The tactics used by the trial judge and the subsequent outcome have left many questions for the family and Trask digs deep to find some answers.
His previous works have included books on Wisconsin's role in the Civil War, as well as the Wisconsin-centric Black Hawk War. He is a retired professor of history and has worked as a consultant for a variety of media and historical organizations.
