LDYC ROUND THE CLUBS RACE 2018

Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions
1. RULES
1.1 The Organizing Authority is Lake Denney’s Yacht Club.
1.2 The race will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2017-2020, SAS prescriptions, NKA rules and relevant class rules.
1.3 Yachts participating in this race shall conform to the Equipment Rules of Sailing (ERS) 2017-2020.
1.4 All yachts shall conform to the safety requirements and regulations as laid down by SA Sailing. Scrutinizing will be at the discretion of the race organizers.
1.5 All yachts over 9 meters shall be in possession of a valid COF certificate.
1.6 At least one person on board all yachts over 9 meters shall be in possession of a valid skippers’ ticket.
1.7 A working cell phone contact number must be supplied on the entry from.
1.8 Race communication on VHF Channel 9
1.9 This event does not have controlled event status and as such all skippers must ensure that they and their yachts conform to SAS requirements

2. SAFETY
2.1 Yachts shall comply with their class buoyancy and safety requirements.
2.2 All competitors shall have a personal buoyancy aid capable of supporting a 5 kg steel weight on board at all times
2.3 Notwithstanding any class requirements, it is recommended that all boats shall carry the following minimum safety equipment:
Minimum two litres fresh water, at all times.
Minimum one serviceable fire extinguisher.
Minimum one stout bucket with lanyard attached.
One anchor suitable for the size of boat, together with chain and min’ 20m warp.
One lifebuoy.
Minimum 20m tow rope.
Serviceable inboard or outboard motor.
3. ADVERTISING
3.1 Advertising on a boat or by its crew is permitted in accordance with the ISAF Regulation 20
3.2 Boats may be required to display event advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.
3.3 Notwithstanding any other rule, the Race Committee reserves the right to require the removal from display of any advertising which, in its opinion, is not in good taste.

4. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
4.1 The race is open to all keel boats, micro multihull and catamaran classes of L.0.A. Above 17 feet (5,2meters) other yachts may enter only after written permission from the Race Committee is given.
4.2 All competitors shall be members in good standing of a yacht club affiliated to and in good standing with SA Sailing.
4.3 The yacht club name and membership details shall be stated on the entry form.
4.4 The Organizing Authority shall have the right but, not the obligation, to refuse entry to any yacht it deems to be unfit for this event

5. ENTRIES
5.1 Entries to be completed online at www.windsail.co.za (http://www.windsail.co.za/index2.php?p=er&cl=1&sid=139)
5.2 A manually completed entry form should be sent to Lake Denney’s Yacht Club.Entries will be accepted at the Regatta Office, by EMAIL (ldyc@telkomsa.net) up to 16h00 on Saturday 20th April 2018.
5.3 There will be no entry for this race

6. REGISTRATION AND SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
6.1 Registration will only be electronically prior to Saturday 21st April 2018.
6.2 Sailing instructions will be emailed to you from Windsail as per your email used for online registration.
6.3 Start shall be as detailed in Sailing Instructions

7. SCORING
6.1 For overall results yachts will be handicapped according to the Combined LDYC NKA TCF Rating system.

8. PLANNED SCHEDULE OF RACING
8.1 Saturday 21st April 2018 competitors can start at mark of their choice from 08h00
8.2 The cut off time will be Saturday 21st April at 16h00

9. MOORING & ACCOMMODATION
10.1 Courtesy moorings marked orange will be available, on request, at Lake Denney’s Yacht Club for visiting yachts.
9.1 Camping for competitors and their immediate family is free for the entire weekend.
9.2 Bar and Restaurant facilities will be provided throughout the weekend.

11. RULES
11.1 The Organizing Authority is Lake Denney’s Yacht Club.
11.2 See Notice of Regatta.

12. NOTICES TO COMPETITORS
12.1 Notices to competitors will be posted on the Official Notice Board located in the foyer of Lake Deneys Yacht Club.
12.2 Any change of Sailing Instructions will be posted not later than 45 minutes before the scheduled start of the race.

13. SCHEDULE OF RACES
13.1 Races will be sailed as per Notice of Regatta unless otherwise informed.

14. THE COURSE AND MARKS
14.1 The marks for the LDYC Round the Clubs Race will be fixed marks around the dam

14.3 All Marks to be rounded to Starboard in order from starting mark

15. START, ROUNDING MARKS AND FINISH
15.1 Start at any mark from 08h00 Recording Start Time.
15.2 Record times rounding marks in order as per 14.2 Course and Marks
15.3 Record finishing time when passing your selected start mark

16. PENALTY SYSTEM
16.1 ISAF Rule 44 shall apply except that RRS 44.3 shall NOT apply, and in the case of Catamarans and Micro Multi-hulls the penalty shall be one complete 360-degree turn.

17. TIME LIMIT
17.1 The Cut of Time for the race will be 16h00

18. PROTESTS
18.1 Protests shall be written on forms available at the Race Office and delivered within 60 minutes after the last race of the day, to the Race Office.
18.2 All protests may be heard at the LDYC Clubhouse on the day of the particular race, or at any other venue at a later date, but will be at the earliest opportunity to ensure that all parties affected are given reasonable time to be present. These arrangements are entirely at the discretion of the Race Officer.
18.3 Protests will be heard in approximately the order of receipt.

19. SCORING
19.1 For overall results, yachts will be handicapped according to the Low Points scoring system of Appendix A 4.1 and A9 of RRS using the LDYC NKA TCF rating system.
19.2 Results will be posted on LDYC’s Notice Board after each race and on the LDYC web page www.ldyc.co.za.

20. PRIZE GIVING
13.1 Will be at Annual NKA Prize Giving

21. LIABILITY
21.1 The attention of all competitors is drawn to the fact that participation in the race is entirely at their own risk. No responsibility ,at any time, for damage or injury resulting there from will rest with the organizing authority, NKA, SAS, the class associations, the host club or any persons connected with the running of or providing assistance during the race.
