The Lakeshore Toastmasters Club of Grand Haven is conducting a four-week workshop called Speechcraft to help participants overcome public speaking nervousness and learn basic public speaking skills. Strong public speaking skills are essential when interviewing for work, meeting the public, conducting business meetings, leading a team or when presenting to colleagues or other community groups.
Speechcraft help participants develop public speaking skills through participation and education. Topics covered include impromptu speaking, how to organize a speech and select a topic, using body language, and vocal variety. Participants learn how to evaluate a speech and will be awarded a certificate upon completion of the program.
Club President John Gork said, "Speechcraft is a great way to increase your confidence in interviews and meetings. The education and training I received have been invaluable to my career."
The Speechcraft workshop is open to the public and will be held four Wednesdays beginning April 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Grand Haven Community Baptist Church, 1140 Park, Grand Haven. The schedule can be tailored to fit the participants' schedule with May 9 reserved as a make-up date. All materials will be provided. There is a $5 registration fee.
