Join artist and illustrator, Jo Webster, for the First Friday Artwalk this Friday, April 6 from 5pm-7pm. Her show will be at Lizzie LaRock's studio (LaRock Star Creative) above Lyon's Drugstore (number 8).
Jo Webster, of Strawberry Hill Studios, is an artist, writer and illustrator who is passionate about encouraging greater interest in and understanding of science and the world we live in.
Jo’s particular love of botany, drawing and the role that plants play in the human environment led her to immersing herself in the Denver Botanic Gardens School of Botanical Art and Illustration program several years ago.
She is showing works from her portfolio at the Friday, April 6, 2018 art walk at the LaRock Star Creative Studio (number 8 above Lyon’s Drugstore). Her artistic mediums are colored pencil, graphite, quill and ink and watercolor.
Jo has worked and lived in several countries, including Papua, Indonesia where she resided for over 8 years. She collaborated with anthropologist Dr. Carolyn Cook to write and publish (2016) an illustrated monograph on the ethnobotany of the Amungme people of Papua, Indonesia.
She holds a bachelor of science in botany, a bachelor of arts in journalism, and a graduate certificate in environmental management, all from the University of Queensland.
Jo has taught and inspired many young Steamboat artists through her signature Draw Like a Pro class for the Steamboat Arts Council's Young at Art program. Born and raised in Brisbane, Australia, she has lived in Steamboat for the past 6.5 years with her husband and two children.
