Cleveland, OH – The Maria Neil Art Project presents their first ‘pop-up’ temporary exhibition in the storefronts of the new LaSalle Arts & Media Center in Collinwood. The exhibition features the latest new work by local Cleveland artist Timothy Callaghan.

‘A Lovely Tremble’ is a body of work featuring the scenery that is the East 185th Street neighborhood of Collinwood. "In the later half of 2016 I began a body of work with the intention of limiting myself to what could be found as source material on E. 185 Street, the street I live off of in Cleveland, Ohio, “ says artist Timothy Callaghan. The process began with the artist working ‘en plein air’ or, painting outdoors, in a large format sketchbook with walnut ink observing the landscapes he could walk to from his home. After the intimal ink drawing, Callaghan would do one additional study based off the sketch that would become the working study for a large gouache painting on paper. MNAP co-owner Adam Tully notes, “the process of observational painting and drawing have long has been central to his practice as an artist and we are excited to bring this body of work to light right in the neighborhood it is inspired by.” Adds Callaghan, “I use this process on a daily basis to investigate the spaces I encounter and to further understand the relationships between space and place."

Timothy Callaghan is an artist residing in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the 2015 Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award recipient. Represented in numerous private and public collections throughout the state, his paintings continue to captivate viewers and capture the reality he experiences. He received his BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art and an MFA from Kent State University in 2005. Callaghan has had numerous solo exhibitions at William Busta Gallery in Cleveland and has exhibited in group shows in New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and Elmhurst, Illinois. Additionally Callaghan authored One Painting a Day, a Quarry Books publication in 2013.

The exhibition is presented by Maria Neil Art Project and will be on view from April 20 through April 22 at the LaSalle Arts & Media Center at 821 East 185th Street in the Collinwood neighborhood of Cleveland.
