Join the fun on a great hiking and camping adventure in Lassen Volcanic National Park! We'll have 3 days of scenic hiking and camping among the trees, lakes, waterfalls, geothermals and peaks of Lassen.
We'll be camping at Summit Lake where we have several campsites for a 3-day weekend of great meals and socializing. We'll meet at the campsite on Friday evening (or Saturday morning) and each day we'll go on incredibly scenic day hikes. The planned itinerary includes a hike to the land of lakes, a hike to Bumpass Hell, Cold Boiling Lake and Mills Creek Falls, and of course a Lassen Peak summit hike!
Lassen Volcanic National Park is Northern California’s hidden gem. Located at the southernmost tip of the Shasta Cascades near Redding, the park is named after its signature landmark, Lassen Peak. This active volcano blew its top in 1915, and it was this eruption that formed the dramatic landscape that is so beautiful today. What else makes Lassen special? There are never any crowds. Ever. Lassen receives more snow than anywhere else in California, and is fully open for only 3-4 months out of the year. This means that only 400,000 visitors come through the park each year, with even fewer venturing out into the 79,000 acres of official wilderness.
At camp we'll take care of all the food for the weekend and all the group gear. You'll need personal gear (tent, sleeping bag, etc) but we'll take care of all the kitchen equipment necessary for a great weekend. We'll be car camping so we can bring (almost) all the comforts of home. Bring your pillows and camp chairs and relax. Also, bring your swimsuits, floats, and lounge chairs for the lake!
