From Tasmania, The Dead Maggies return to Brisbane for another Sunday night hoe-down.
Earlier in the night is a ticketed event. Folk band The Maes (formerly The Maes Trio) will be on around 7-9pm. Our show 9.30-11.30 will be free entry.
A raucous combination of folk-punk, pirate shanty and cow-punk, The Dead Maggies formed moments after the death of Maggie Thatcher and burst onto the Tasmanian music scene in April 2013. Since then they’ve garnered national airplay on Triple J and Radio National and been feature album and in the charts of community radio stations including 4ZZZ, Three-D, 2BoB and Edge Radio.
They have undertaken three international tours. They were the first international band hosted by Indonesian Celtic Punks. They have toured Europe in 2014 and 2017, including performances at Outcider and the 70,000 capacity Boomtown Festivals in the UK.
Then have cemented themselves as regulars of the Australian festival circuit, including; Falls Festival, Port Fairy, Dark Mofo, The Spiegeltent, National Folk Festival and Illawarra Folk to name a few.
See you there for a whiskey or ten.
