The Aldo Leopold Festival celebrates the pristine waters and unmatched natural beauty of The Les Cheneaux Islands in Cedarvile and Hessel, Michigan. As part of festival activities you (or your team of 2 or 3) can paddle, peddle, and pedestrian our unique setting among 36 islands and scenic shores. Celebrate the legacy of Aldo Leopold, known as the father of the conservation movement, who spent his summers on the water and woods of this lovely area.
The triathlon starts with a one mile kayak paddle in Hessel Bay with views of many islands including Marquette Island Mackinac Island. Next comes a 6 mile bicycle course in the quaint town of Hessel with views of the shoreline and marina. The final segment is a 2 mile walk/run loop that returns to Hessel Beach. Unique commemorative awards!
