Take the pledge:
I AM PARTICIPATING IN THE DAY OF SILENCE, a national youth movement bringing attention to the silence experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people. I am taking a vow of silence today to show my solidarity, and to raise awareness of how LGBT people feel silenced by heterosexist and transphobic comments and bullying. PLEASE THINK ABOUT THE VOICES YOU ARE NOT HEARING TODAY, AND MAKE A COMMITMENT TO HELP END THE SILENCE.
For over 10 years, Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth (LIGALY) / The LGBT Network has been helping Long Island students and staff organize, prepare, and successfully implement the national Day of Silence, a national campaign that brings visibility to the issue of heterosexism and the efforts of individual GSA clubs.
