2 part class: May 5th / May 12th from 4-5:30 p.m.
$90 per person ~ Please call to reserve your spot

If you’ve gone to any of the big box home stores in the spring, you’ve surely seen pre-made fairy gardens and loads of tiny plants for sale. Wouldn’t it be fun to make one that is totally “you”? Sign up for this fun class at LGG Creative Art Pottery Studio and do it!

Part 1 (1.5 hours): I will have a wide variety of planting vessels on hand (shallow and wide, deep and tall, many with interesting shapes and textures, etc.) that can be used to create a one-of-a-kind miniature garden. Students will purchase the vessel they wish to use and will spend their class time painting it with underglazes or decorating the outside with pottery shards, glass beads--whatever your heart desires. I will demonstrate how to make a tiny fairy house from wet clay, and students may use class time to make their own or purchase/paint tiny houses that I’ve created (separate fee for purchased tiny houses). I will glaze and fire student pieces before the next class.

Part 2 (1.5 hours): Students will use their newly fired vessels as the base for their miniature gardens. I will provide plants, soil, and tools for planting. Class time will focus on collecting plant materials from the bountiful gardens around my studio. In addition, students may “raid” my pottery pile (broken pieces from the past four years) to collect colorful sherds that they can use as tiny stepping stones or other interesting features in their gardens or fairy houses.

Note: If plant collection day turns out to be a rainy, muddy mess, I will collect a wide variety of plants from my gardens and bring them into the studio for the second class.

Price includes one pottery vessel (handmade by me), instruction, glazes and firing time, plants, tools, and nice, rich soil. Additional vessels or small fairy houses may be purchased separately, if desired. Water, coffee, and light snacks are provided at no charge. BYOB if you prefer.

Only have time for one class? That’s cool.
Part 1 only: $55 / Part 2 only: $35 (must bring your own base vessel)

If these days and times don't work for you, we can set up a private class at a time that is more convenient, or you can reserve my entire studio for a private party for up to 10 friends. The cost to rent my studio for a private 2 hour class is $60 plus the cost of materials and instruction time. For larger groups, I can bring the fun to your location. Feel free to contact me for details or to create a booking.
