As defined by Wikipedia, ‘conceptual art’ is “art in which the concept(s) or idea(s) involved in the work take precedence over traditional aesthetic, technical, and material concerns”. This workshop will cover a brief history of the Conceptual Art movement and introduce a variety of techniques and strategies used in a conceptual art practice. Artists will learn how to develop deeper meaning in their artwork and/or expand production beyond their usual medium of choice. Artists are encouraged to bring examples of past artwork to activate discussion and short critiques.
