This year’s Young Artists Summer Camp theme is Nature! Each day we will have a different set of fun projects that will revolve around a more specific theme within the larger theme of nature. Within this summer camp, young artists will explore their curiosities by creating artwork that also teaches about science and nature! This interdisciplinary approach to teaching and creating artwork fosters the growth and exploration of many different types of learners! Children will be able to participate in hands-on learning and creating in several individual and group projects per day. You may choose to sign up your child for individual days or for the whole week (5 days).
During today's camp, we will focus on The Rocks, the Breeze, and the Birds in the Trees. Throughout the three hour session, we will get messy making art by stamping paper with rocks, grass, and even our hands and feet! The children will learn about how different art materials can come together to create a masterpiece. We will then create our own bird like creatures using a torn paper collage method that combines a fun, physical activity with imagination and creativity! Lastly, we will be creating our own relief prints in styrofoam of places that are special to us. The children will have fun brainstorming together and creating a print of a place that they love.
