This year’s Young Artists Summer Camp theme is Nature! Each day we will have a different set of fun projects that will revolve around a more specific theme within the larger theme of nature. Within this summer camp, young artists will explore their curiosities by creating artwork that also teaches about science and nature! This interdisciplinary approach to teaching and creating artwork fosters the growth and exploration of many different types of learners! Children will be able to participate in hands-on learning and creating in several individual and group projects per day. You may choose to sign up your child for individual days or for the whole week (5 days).
During today's day camp, we will focus on The Beautiful Blue Sea. We only have to look out our windows to be inspired by the beautiful blue ocean water.
Throughout today's three hour session, we will work collaboratively to make a big blue ocean scene with printmaking, collage, and mixed media. The children will also have the opportunity to learn more about printmaking - specifically how to monoprint. This process is fun and messy! We will make prints and learn about how we can use many different materials, such as bubble wrap, cotton balls, and more, to create water like textures. We will focus on the movement and fluidity of the ocean and will be able to draw inspiration from right outside our windows! The children will also create collographs of their own sea-creatures! This fun print-making project allows the children to practice fine motor skills and use their imagination to create a 3D stamp of a creature. Join us for an artful morning of fun!
