Each year National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day seeks to raise awareness about the importance of children’s mental health and show that positive mental health is essential to a child’s healthy development.
This year’s theme, Partnering for Health and Hope Following Trauma will focus on the importance of an integrated approach to caring for the mental health needs of children, youth, and young adults who have experienced trauma, as well as their families. More than 1,100 communities and 160 national collaborating organizations and federal programs will organize local Awareness Day activities and events around the country.
FMRS is partnering with the WV Miners Baseball Club, Genoa Healthcare, Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital, FAST-Legal Aid WV, Raleigh County Schools, New River Health, Seneca Health Services, Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center, Appalachian Psychiatric Services PLLC and numerous businesses and organizations to provide a fun and festive event for children and families in Southern West Virginia. There will be fun and educational activities for youth and prizes for walk participants. Admission and Activities will be Free.
