Experimental Image Making (adults)
"I really looked forward to this class each week, a space for me to get creative and be in the moment, it was almost meditative, a peaceful space away from family life and quality me time! Each session brought new surprises and techniques that I had never tried before. I would highly recommend it." Gemma, course participant September- November 2017.
Course overview continued...
On the process-orientated course, we will immerse in the moment and the tools and materials around us. We will work across a variety of scales and surfaces, with conventional and unusual tools and surfaces. The creativity tutor will introduce, (or for those with some experience, offer extensions) a new theme and process(es) each week and invite a playful approach to image making, working from the observed and imagined, through layering, scratching, tearing up and transforming work as we go. Across the 8 weeks, we will discuss artists and illustrators work and investigations will include many of following processes, with the final week being an open opportunity to mix media;
Printmaking: Monoprinting, rubber stamping, Gelli Plate
Wet photography: Chemigrams, photo batik, handpainted photographs.
Watercolour: Make a folded book with experimental techniques, layering motifs using carbon paper.
Ink: Drawing in inks, ink with bleach, hand-drawn lettering.
Collage: Graphic image making with tape, graphite pencils, cardboard and other collage material
For the first class: Bring a small bag of variety of textures, patterns from your recycling and or nature, and a small note/sketchbook.
