RAISING VOICES is a monthly celebration / showcase of songs of substance, and the time-honoured art of the protest song.

Steve Wernick is a singer/songwriter based in Sydney Australia, currently promoting his new album “Love Is A Gamble”.

Steve’s known for his insightful, pathos laden, cutting, sometimes tender lyrics. Often compared to artists such as, Billy Bragg and Joe Strummer, raw and emotional, there’s no mistaking his English roots!

The Steve Wernick Band features Guitarist Paul Hayward, Jono Chosid on Bass, Violinist Cara Zaetta-Thomas and Immo Perkons on Drums!

Monica Welander is a punkrock 'n' roll singer/songwriter originally from Sweden, who released her debut album in 2007. Since then she has produced and released another three albums and toured around the world mainly performing solo.
Her latest album "Less Frenetic" (2016); featuring just Monica solo with her acoustic guitar was well received by the music press and audience around Europe and Britain.

"The new acoustic album by Monica and the Explosion, albeit Monica Welander, is a real treat that demands your attention throughout and isn’t content as some background music at a dinner party like some solo projects.”

Australian roots music, a sense of place. In singer-songwriter Mark Lucas' world you’ll encounter ghosts of the past & yearning spirits of the present, making themselves known in a variety of familiar locales, together with a motley cast of misfits & dreamers who could fit in just about anywhere there’s people & stories to tell.
A familiar face on the Sydney roots scene, Mark’s current solo album “Little Town Blues”, sees him step out from long-time backing band the Dead Setters to work a distinctly personal seam.

“I'd place Mark Lucas in the same category where you find the late Townes Van Zandt and John Prine, or Robert Earl Keen: handsome, easy-to-the-ear melodies, beautiful, pure, at times bitter and sardonic lyrics, and a number of songs which you could immediately catalogue as "gets stuck in your head". ”
– Dani Heyvaert, Rootstime.be (Belgium)

“…after all these years writing and recording songs, he’s still got plenty to draw on, and you just can’t fake soul like this.” – Whisperinandhollerin (Ireland)
