Drawing on Meditation facilitates heightened awareness by clearing out past worries and releasing future expectations (emptying the mind), thereby allowing us to open up to new possibilities and take on new challenges in life with vital energy and a joyful attitude (focusing the mind). Combining continuous breathing with the act of drawing is powerful way to:
- bring us into the present moment
- remind us who we are
- connect us to others
- bring wonder back into places we had forgotten about
- improve mental and emotional capabilities
- bolster sensory and motor skills
- increase observational skills
Drawing on Meditation will provide a safe space to take risks, encounter obstacles to creative flow, and provide nourishment for the soul. Therefore, the drive of this workshop is experiential, beyond the ego’s judgement and ideas/feelings about how to behave. We’re not trying to “make art”, per se. Here, being overrides doing. After all, the word ‘Art’, literally means, “To Be”.
Simple asanas will be used to center and relax the mind and body, at the start, however, the majority of time is divided into exercises that cultivate creative exploration and present state awareness. All materials provided. Dress for comfort and mobility.
