Installation of LAR'OK
Its second name is Kiosk - wonder of the Post-Soviet.
👁ABOUT the project
“The new east in contemporary visual culture is not a reflection of a real space but more a multi-layered myth. It’s linked to photographic representations of post-Soviet cities and Nineties aesthetics and built on various iconic images.”
While the Internet slums on “ugly” eastern aesthetics, to Katerina the look is simply part of her history and context. So how come the New East aesthetics have suddenly become so attractive?
Lar'ok - little building that sells everything you ever looking for is a form where she represents the story and gives a satirical tour on identity and cultural swapping.
