Ben Morgan-Brown Music is an alt-folk singer-songwriter-guitarist.
Often compared to Nick Drake, Ben’s music also follows in the tradition of players such as Michael Chapman, Bert Jansch, Steve Gunn & John Fahey, combining open tunings & hypnotic guitar instrumentals with gentle vocal melodies & lyrics reflecting on love, regret, memory & loss.
In the past five years he has, in order:
quit a band that played at Glastonbury.
lost his grandmother.
given up music.
taken up music again.
met a wonderful woman (and her two teenage daughters).
lost his grandfather.
spent a month in hospital with salmonella.
written, recorded and released an E.P. from his living room (which was played on BBC Radio).
played some gigs.
recorded & released a mini-album with his friend Peter from The Diamond Family Archive (which was also played on BBC Radio).
lost his father.
found himself unable to play music.
found he needed to play music again to get better.
recorded a live session for BBC Introducing Devon that was described as ‘sheer understated brilliance’
quit his job working in a guitar shop to concentrate on playing music.
It’s been a funny five years.
