The Mackinac Island 4-H Horse club was originally formed in 1997 by the youth of the Mackinac Island school system. Led by coach, Leanne Brodeur, the Mackinac island 4-H Horse club is centered on equine education and horsemanship. The club meets year-round with specialized sessions in the winter and summer.
The 4-H students spend the summer session role-playing different exercises, utilizing props for obstacles, and practicing techniques they have learned. Topics that are covered during this session include: measuring, timing, patterns, teamwork, balance, self-confidence, and trust. Students will spend a majority of their time in 4-H interacting and communicating with horses.
4-H Monthly Cookouts will be hosted on the first Thursday of every month. Hosted by Mackinac Horsemen's Association
