Boone River Canoe Trip

The Madison County River Alliance is organizing a day trip to the scenic Boone River Water Trail on April 21. The group will meet at Middle River County Park south of Winterset at 7 am to organize equipment transport before heading to the Boone River. The group will be canoeing from the Briggs Wood Access to the Tunnel Mill Access which is approximately 11 miles.

This scenic river will provide a beautiful spring paddle and rumor has it, this stretch of river is good for smallmouth bass fishing.

The planned course has a few drops along the way so this trip is open to Experienced Paddlers Only.

Participants will meet at Middle River Park to arrange for carpooling. The Madison County River Alliance will have a canoe trailer with limited space available to aid in the transport of canoes. Advanced notification is requested to for anyone wishing to place equipment on the canoe trailer.

April 21 (Saturday): Boone River Water Trail

1) Meet at Middle River County Park at 7:00 am to load canoes on cars/trailer. - Depart by 7:30 am
2) Drive to Tunnel Mill Access and meet at 9:00 am
3) Others meet at Tunnel Mill Access at 9:00 am
4) Shuttle canoes to Briggs Woods access - be on river by 9:45 am

All participants should bring their own shore-lunch & beverages.
