SHIBORI TECHNIQUES FOR THE INDIGO DYEPOT. With Jackie Ottino Graf. www.foragecolor.com Sunday, May 20, 2018. 10 AM- 5 PM. $120.00. $50.00 deposit holds your space. Price includes all materials. Please bring: a package of spring clothespins, a set of dishwashing gloves, plastic bags or containers to transport wet items. Call 203-245-5921 to register.

An all day indigo adventure! We will explore a variety of techniques to create beautiful indigo
dyed textiles: stitching, folding, clamping and tying, and spend the morning getting our fabrics
and yarns ready to dye in indigo. After a lunch break, we will return to learn how to create a
traditional indigo vat, and dye our fabrics. Your fee covers all dyes and equipment, as well as a set of 4 cotton napkins a silk scarf, and a skein of washable fingering weight merino yarn.

Also consider bringing any interesting items that would create a resist on fabric: washers, cds, stones, shells, marbles…. Please also feel free to bring up to a 1 pound of your own clean items to dip in the dye pot and/or practice our techniques on. This can be yarn, fiber, fabric, clothing etc. (We may or may not get to dyeing our personal items in class, but there is often leftover dye...I hate to see it go to waste!).
