Crosswords is a fab little spoken word open mic night that takes place in the caves underneath the Malt Cross Pub on St James’ Street. There are plenty of open mic slots and a featured poet every month! In April, our featured performer is the fantastic poet and performer, Dominic Berry!

Dominic is an internationally-renowned, award-winning performance poet, who works with both adults and children. He was 2017 Glastonbury Poet in Residence and winner of Saboteur's 2017 award for 'Best Spoken Word Artist'. He has performed on BBC3, Channel 4, and CBeebies, and his most recent show, No Tigers, was a great success at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Dominic writes about pop culture, masculinity, sexuality and vegan pride in a thought-provoking and highly engaging way, and his shows are high energy, fast-paced and fun.

“Really very inspiring. I love the seriousness and the humour.”
Benjamin Zephaniah

Arrive at Crosswords from 7:30pm on the night to book your short open mic slot. We like poetry, prose, storytelling, a cappella singing, and monologues! Or you can just come along to listen – everyone's welcome! Entry is £2 per person and refreshments are available.

NB: there are over forty steps down to the caves, some of which are uneven and steep.
