If you’ve ever wondered how gourmet pretzel sticks are made this is a SWEET opportunity you won’t want to miss! Join George (George’s Armenian Delights) as he demonstrates how to hand dip pretzel rods in honor of National Pretzel Day (celebrated Thurs 4/26). The popularity of these beauties is what launched George into the baking business. Come watch, listen, and learn, as one of City Market’s most congenial vendors shares his stories and expertise!
George Douroujalian’s love of baking came late in life. After a decades-long career in finance, he found himself sidelined by some health issues at age 57. With hours of unoccupied time on his hands, George discovered his passion with a little help from television's Food Channel. That spark of inspiration soon led him to apprentice with a team of older Armenian women (in need of kitchen volunteers) at a Southfield church. After several summers of training under their watchful and exacting eyes, George had washed a lot of church ladies' dishes on his way to becoming the skilled Armenian baker we know today.
