The missing link between The Pogues and Edith Piaf, you won’t find another band like Wild Willy Barrett’s French Connection. Within a single song you'll be taken from a riverside café via a Dublin hooley to a New Orleans party with rip-roaring fiddle and banjo, and over all that the versatile and heartrending vocals of singer Jane Williams.
Changing gear between almost every number, the quartet perform stunning original compositions and arrangements on guitar, cello, harmonium, whistle, fiddle, banjo and Irish pipes.
Multi-instrumentalist, erstwhile musical partner of John Otway, and Godfather of grunge folk, Wild Willy Barrett has had a long and varied career, recording with Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Gordon Giltrap and Ralph McTell, as well as being considered as Brian Jones’s replacement in the Rolling Stones!
The quartet is rounded out with cellist Mary Holland and Uilleann pipes maestro John Devine, with everyone taking a turn at percussion. Enjoy a wonderful evening of unique musical entertainment overlaid with a large dose of dry humour!
