#var:page_name# cover

Families of all ages are invited to join COVE at the library to plant a pinwheel garden for National Child Abuse Prevention month. The event is scheduled for 4:00 pm Tuesday, April 3 at the Scottville Library, and Friday, April 6 at the Ludington Library. Children will also create pinwheels to decorate and take home.

April was first designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month by President Ronald Reagan in 1983, and in the past 35 years this month has been a time to recognize that child abuse and neglect is a problem seen in every community in every state in our country. But it’s also a time to recognize that child abuse and neglect can be prevented.

This April, Prevent Child Abuse America is specifically highlighting three ways that individuals can make a difference in their community and help prevent child abuse. The group is encouraging everyone to mentor a child or parent, advocate for family friendly policies, or donate time or money to child-serving organizations. Join Us in Supporting Great Childhoods this April!

Information about the pinwheel project is available at preventchildabuse.org. Information about COVE is available at callcove.com. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Mason County District Library events are free.
