Can traditional arts be leveraged to improve an older adult’s quality of life? Are arts interventions more effective when they align with an elder’s personal and cultural identity? In this lecture, Jon Kay, Curator of Folklife and Cultural Heritage at the MMWC, will discuss his research and observations about folklore and the expressive lives of elders and the way that traditional practices may improve the quality of life for older adults. Kay is the author of Folk Art Aging: Life-Story Objects and Their Makers.

The event will be free and open to the public.
