Create your own unique piece of art in this three hour workshop, combining meditation and art techniques to connect to your intuitive expression.
The link between meditation and art has a long, global history dating back to prehistoric times when people expressed their relationship with the Divine through cave paintings and the sculpting of goddess figurines. Carl Jung (1875-1961) used the art form of the mandala to psychoanalyse both himself and his patients and modern-day art therapists use artworks derived from meditation to enable clients to gain a deeper understanding of themselves.
Meditation is a process that enables you to quiet your mind. It is in the stillness that you create the space for your intuition to emerge and connect to your true creative self. Meditation can also make you more mindful and more able to deal with negative self-talk that could be holding you back. When you use your intuition, there are no mistakes so no fear that you may not know what to do or may do the wrong thing. Paintings are allowed to emerge organically. The link between art and meditation also works in the reverse direction. That is, creating art can be the focus for entering a meditative state.
The partnership between meditation and art is truly a connection to a world of limitless creative potential....
Decisions generally involve your rational mind and, to a greater or lesser degree, your intuitive self. Your rational mind will usually tell you to choose the sensible, economical item whereas your intuitive self may well prefer the sparkly, impractical version (i.e. those shoes :) ). At this workshop your intuitive self can be allowed to dominate - it is the decisions that you intuitively make that will ensure that your piece is a unique reflection of you.
There are no mistakes in the creative process - whatever you create was meant to be!
Your art teacher will be Carole Bond, who has worked in mixed media for many years and is a member of the Maleny art scene. She also has a teaching degree and has more recently begun to experiment with a more intuitive, spiritually-guided approach to her pieces.
Michelle Eckles, owner of Meditation Sunshine Coast and qualified meditation teacher, will guide you in a grounding and then meditation to allow your creative energy to flow.
Afternoon tea also provided.
“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honours the servant and has forgotten the gift.” Albert Einstein
