The Merced Symphony Association concludes its 60th season with grandiose and colorful music by three Russian masters on Friday, April 13th at the Art Kamangar Center @ the Merced Theatre. Join Music Director Ming Luke and the musicians of the symphony for our tribute to the Romantic Russians. Doors open at 6:30pm; music starts at 7:30pm.
Romantic Russians features works by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Piotr Tchaikovsky, and Modest Mussorgsky. Rimsky-Korsakov was considered one of the greatest orchestrators, and his Russian Easter Overture has a full palate of orchestral colors. Tchaikovsky's grand Marche Slave brings power to this season finale concert, but nothing could be more impressive than Mussorgsky's famous Pictures at an Exhibition, orchestrated by Maurice Ravel. Mussorgsky was inspired by his friend, the artist Viktor Hartmann, musically depicting a series of his sketches and drawings. What better way to celebrate the Merced Symphony's 60th anniversary season than this explosive and brilliant masterwork!
This year the MSA is proud to announce tiered ticketing in an effort to make our concerts accessible to even more live music lovers. Adult tickets are available for $25, $35, or $45; tickets for students/children are $15. Tickets can be purchased at the Merced Theatre Box Office at 301 W. Main Street.
