#var:page_name# cover

Follow the history of Woodland Park Zoo from its beginnings nearly 120 years ago as a private estate, carved from the wilderness to promote real estate development in the Phinney Ridge and Green Lake neighborhoods of Seattle. By the late 1970s, the zoo emerged as an international pioneer in naturalistic exhibit design and landscape immersion. John Bierlein, who worked as the zoo’s curator of education programs and manager of exhibits, will show historic images from the zoo’s history as he offers an insider’s perspective on the changing relationship between humans and animals.
In partnership with Mercer Island Historical Society.
