If there is one type of yoga pose which polarizes practitioners opinion its arm balances . You either love them or you hate them or you fear them – or all three ! Often this is due to there never being enough time in a 1 or 1.5 hour flow to take it slow , to break the poses down and just well PLAY .
In this 2 hour playshop we shall look at
1. The muscles we need to work and exercises to strengthen and release them
2. The role of the bandhas ( energy locks in the body – in particular mulabandha and uddiyana bandha )
3. The role of self confidence and the fear of falling
4. Various arm balances and their modifications such as bakasana ( crow ) , parsva bakanasana ( side crow ) , Bhujapidasana ( arm pressure pose ) , tittibhasana ( firefly ), eka hasta bhujasana ( one hand over arm balance ) adho mukha svanasana ( down dog ) , chaturanga dandasana ( 4 limbed staff pose ) and vasisthasana ( plank and side plank ) – yes they’re arm balances too !
Please note this workshop is not designed for beginners and at least 6 months yoga practice is recommended
