The Michigan American Council on Education Women’s Network (MI-ACE) in partnership with Michigan Equal Pay Coalition invites you to join us for a “Red Out” on April 10, 2018 to recognize Equal Pay Day. Equal Pay Day symbolizes how far into the year a woman must work, on average, to earn as much as her male counterparts did during the previous year. Red is worn on this day as a symbol of how far women are “in the red” with regard to pay.
The Study Abroad student group is hosting a Bake Sale in front of the Mt. Pleasant Campus Library 9am to 2pm on April 10th to help fund their trip to Prague during the Spring semester. In addition to accepting donations, they will be also be offering a special pay gap discount to help illustrate the fact that in the United States (on average) females earn 80% of what their male counterparts earn.
If you are interested in learning more about negotiating your salary, the value of your degree, or how to advance in your chosen career, the Career Center will also have a table outside of the Mt. Pleasant Campus Library. Members of the Career Center team will be available to answer questions you might have and provide resources regarding these topics.
If you have any questions about Equal Pay Day, please feel free to contact Amy Goethe or Jodie Romzek (MI-ACE Women’s Network Co-Representatives for Mid) at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
