Originally called Movement-in-depth by dancer Mary Whitehouse in the 1950's, Authentic Movement is based on movement impulses that lie within each one of us.

Rooted in the principles of expressive dance and Jungian Depth Psychology, it has evolved into a widely practiced body-based discipline, which comprises guidelines and a defined structure.

Participants move, witness and share the unique experiences brought about by tuning into what longs to be moved in them, in their bodies. The feeling is often described as "being moved" instead of moving out of will or invention.

It can be applied to different contexts: artistic, creative, therapeutic, spiritual and much more.

Authentic Movement is also seen a meditative practice to tune into our kinesthetic sense and being.

In this class, we will become familiar with the essentials of the discipline, we will practice witnessing and we will develop our speaking as movers and witnessing.
