Artists Pester and Rossi will host the women's art group this week, introducing a project for GI.
Walking performance from the neighbourhoods we live in to The Pearce Institute, Govan
An adaption of Esther Ferrer’s The Road is Made By Walking re-shaped to new environments, contexts and people. Using a set of handmade modular wearable parts, we will join together marking our path on a collective walk with local women's groups in the South of Glasgow. We will use our bodies, voices and actions to occupy, expand and take ownership of public space. This movement across the city will form a score constantly in flux, swarming and dispersing with the interaction of spectators and participants.
We are looking for people to contribute words and phrases that explore ideas of freespace, community and neighbourhood. This text will to be added to a set of handmade wearable fabric parts to be used during a walking performance. We are particularly interested in representing voices of local women throughout the project. We are also looking for people to take part in the walk – children, families, all welcome.
