"Effervescent, Life-Affirming Acoustic Pop”
James Harriman brings a non-stop, high energy live persona alongside catchy choruses and strong lyrics. Taking influence from the live looped performance styles of Ed Sheeran, KT Tunstall and Beardyman James uses looping and vocal processing to create a unique and immersive performance. Sounds like - ‘Bruno Mars’ ‘George Ezra’ ‘Frank Turner’.
James writes songs that are designed to be listened to, often touching on deeper themes like relationships and mental health that contrast with the upbeat happy sound of the music. James first hit the live music circuit in Birmingham in 2015 bursting onto the scene with a larger than life persona and memorable songs with a folk and singer songwriter style heavily influenced by Ed Sheeran. After taking a year away from his solo project to front and write for the pop/rock band “That’s Just You” (2016/17) James’ songwriting style developed to also incorporate elements of Rock, Jazz and even elements of Rap (inspired by artists such as Frank Turner, Jamie Cullum and Childish Gambino). This change in style resulted in his debut single “Half Past Two” a song about student life that takes sonic influences from all of these genres.
James has performed across the UK in legendary venues such as “Moles” (Bath) and “The Rainbow” (Birmingham) and has played many big events including “Free Radio Live”, “The Birmingham Weekender: and “The Birmingham Made Me Awards”. He is currently on his first full band tour around the UK supporting the release of his debut single “Half Past Two”.

“Ben Hutcheson, a young singer/songwriter with a wisdom beyond his years.
His lyrics tackle universal themes such as love and loss, yet also weave captivating stories, with a contemporary feel.
With a warm, rich voice he expresses emotion and authenticity and makes a genuine connection with his audience.”
- Julianne Regan (All About Eve)
Ben Hutcheson’s dark husky growl sings of a world of intimacy and observation. Love, lust and tenderness, haunted dancehalls and broken promises - Ben’s world is weary though alive due to delicacy and romance. From Portishead to Nashville this is music for lovers, vagrants and thieves. - Davey Ray Moore (CousteauX)
