Please join tango musician and educator Alejandro Pinzón and versatile guitarist John Marcinizyn for an evening of traditional Argentine tango, gypsy jazz and Latin music in the Gallery Space. The program will include music by Astor Piazzolla, Django Reinhardt, Luiz Bonfa and many others.
Originally from Yucatan, México, Alejandro Pinzón is a multidisciplinary artist and experienced educator specializing in all things Argentine tango. He travels internationally performing and conducting tango concerts, teaching music master classes and dance workshops, and leading interactive lectures about Argentine tango. Alejandro is currently the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra's guest conductor and teaches string lessons at David's Music House. His groups Cuarteto Bravo and Resaca Tango Duo are the premier tango ensembles in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh-based guitarist, composer and banjoist John Marcinizyn performs frequently as a soloist, with contralto Daphne Alderson, and with groups including the Ferla-Marcinizyn Guitar Duo, the Red Hot Ramblers (Dixieland jazz), Duo Cieli (flute and guitar duo), the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh and Billy Price. His versatility as an acoustic and electric guitarist allows him to perform in many styles including classical, jazz, flamenco, rock, blues and folk. John has also performed guitar and banjo for many theater companies. His playing can be heard on eight CDs and one DVD. His latest CDs are Blue Ride (a collection of original instrumentals) and North Side Sessions with Duo Cieli (music for flute and guitar with Tara Yaney).
