In mid-March, LRAC board members Rhea Pirch and Bill Rutledge and Kelly Leavitt travelled to Chattanooga to attend the regional Creative Placemaking Leadership Summit, a conference presented by the National Consortium for Creative Placemaking with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
CREATIVE PLACEMAKING is an integrative approach to planning and community building. The conference explored how small communities can be impacted in a variety of beneficial ways by using the arts as a foundation.
Case studies and data are proving the economic and social value of the active use of culture and the arts in communities.
The community and area artists are invited to attend a special meeting on Wednesday, April 18.
Rhea, Bill and Kelly will share what they learned about creative placemaking, as well as some of the Council's ideas for enhancing the Mentone area.
Attendees will have the opportunity to be part of the creative process and help us brainstorm further possibilities!
You're welcome to bring a dish for a dessert potluck. We'll provide coffee and tea.
It's not necessary to RSVP, but it does help us to have an idea of how many will attend. Thanks.
