Somewhere between the wide-angle scenic and the close-up details of a flower resides the Intimate Landscape. Eliot Porter ushered in this beautiful variation of landscape photography with a focus on the elements of a scene—textures, patterns, colors, value ranges, abstract qualities and other details. Think: Less is more.

In this 16-hour workshop, we’ll study Porter’s and others’ work that exemplifies this very personal way of seeing. We’ll explore what goes into the making of an Intimate Landscape image—story, vision, composition, lenses, filters, light and light control, and camera settings for optimum exposures.
