ABOUT KARERI LAKE:
Kareri Lake near Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh at an altitude of 2950 mtrs is a shallow fresh water lake. It lies between Dhauladhar Range of Himalayas. Dhauladhars act as a water source for this lake owing to melting of snow. The trail till Kareri Lake is through forest of Oak, Pine and Rhododendron trees. The trek is a paradise for a first time trekker. Area around lake also serves as base camp for Minkiani and Bleni Pass. Towering mountains of Dhauladhar Range act as guardians for this lake. The trek starts from the Kareri village which is 27 kms from Dharamshala. It is a quaint beautiful village. Kareri village is connected to Dharamshala through a motor able road, though the road condition is average to poor. Groh, Chadi and Ghera are the villages on the way from Dharamshala to Kareri village. A clear day at Kareri village provides a vivid view of Indrahara Pass and Moon Peak which is highest peak of Dhauladhar Range.
7th April (Saturday): Departure from Pilani. Overnight journey to dharamshala
8th April (Sunday): 27 kms drive from dharamshala to Kareri village and 9kms trek from kareri village to Rioti.
9th April (Monday): Rioti – Kareri lake 6km trek
10th April (Tuesday): 15 km trek from Kareri lake to kareri village, 27 kms drive from Kareri village to Dharamshala and then Leave for Pilani.
11th April (Wednesday): Reach Pilani before 11 a.m.
