As their name suggests, you can expect the unexpected from Mystic Chicken. Performing both covers and original songs, these six musicians draw upon their eclectic musical backgrounds to create their unique sound – part Indie, part Americana, part classic rock. They have the ability to shift smoothly from sultry to sassy, from lyrical to rhythmic. You’ll recognize many of their covers but may be surprised to hear them, because part of the ‘mystic’ in Mystic Chicken is to avoid overplayed songs. Once they’ve decided to cover a song they approach it as a work of art unlike the original, which allows for an exciting transformation that appeals to a listening, singing and dancing audience.
Mystic Chicken was formed in 2016 by vocalist/guitarist Nic Croucher, who first teamed up with guitarist Rick Gustaitus. They then brought in cellist Tracey Maxwell and as their sound progressed, added Hank Wheeler on drums and percussion, Bill Porter on bass, and back-up vocalist Maggie Draughn. Mystic Chicken has a dream to inspire and intrigue its audiences and to always provide a cluckin’ good time.
