The Muscatine Diabetes Project will hold two drop-in informational sessions on Saturday, April 7, the first session starting at 8:00 AM and second session starting at 8:45 AM at the Muscatine Community YMCA’s Howe Conference Room, 1823 Logan Street to answer any questions about the Muscatine PreventT2 Diabetes Program.
The Muscatine PreventT2 Diabetes Program will offer a proven approach to preventing or delaying the onset of Type 2 diabetes through modest lifestyle changes made with the support of a coach and one’s peers. Participants learn how to eat healthy, add physical activity to their routine, manage stress, stay motivated, and solve problems that can get in the way of healthy changes.
PreventT2 groups meet for a year – weekly for the first 6 months, then twice a month for the second 6 months to maintain healthy lifestyle changes. The program’s group setting provides a supportive environment with people who are facing similar challenges and trying to make the same changes. Together participants celebrate their successes and find ways to overcome obstacles.
The year-long program will include a $25 non-refundable registration fee along with a $5 per session fee which equates to $190 total program cost. We want to keep this community program affordable, as many other diabetes prevention programs cost in the range of $350-$400 total program cost.
The Muscatine PreventT2 Diabetes Program is presented by the Muscatine Diabetes Project and classes will be held at the Muscatine Community YMCA, our community health investment partner. You do not have to be a Y member to participate in the Muscatine PreventT2 Diabetes Program.
