Pred otvoritvijo, ob 18.30 v Kinu Šiška, bo soustanovitelj Studia Folder Marco Ferrari predstavil genezo projekta v okviru konference Tactics & Practice #6 | TRANSNATIONALISMS @ Kino Šiška → http://aksioma.org/transnationalisms/index_slo.html

/// Event in conjunction with the exhibition ‘Transnationalisms’ curated by James Bridle ///

The border between Italy and its adjacent countries traverses perennial snowfields at high altitudes, following the path of the Alpine watershed. As global warming melts the glaciers, the watershed shifts and so do Italian borders. Between 2014 and 2016, Studio Folder installed a network of sensors on a glacier across a section of the Austrian–Italian border, and transmitted in real time the position of the shifting border. ‘Italian Limes’ shows how natural frontiers are subject to the complexity of ecological and territorial processes—and that they depend on the technologies and historical norms that are used to represent them.

The project ‘Italian Limes’ was first presented at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition, la Biennale di Venezia, where it was awarded with a special mention by the International jury, and has been awarded at the European Design Awards 2015 with a silver medal for the exhibition design. The map of the movable borders has been acquired by the Victoria & Albert Museum in London as part of its permanent design collection.

Prior the opening, at 6.30 pm, co-founder of the Studio Folder Marco Ferrari will explain the genesis of the project in a lecture at Kino Šiška in the framework of the conference Tactics & Practice #6 | TRANSNATIONALISMS → http://aksioma.org/transnationalisms
